BCCI Charged with Forex Violations in IPL

The Enforcement Division (ED) is set by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to have violated exchange control regulations.

The ED believes that BCCI kept the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in ignorance of the financial guarantees of approximately $ 13.4 million (R62 crore), gave international cricketers for their participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In a confidential report, the ED states that the Board has agreement with 72 foreign players until they pay a basic fee in foreign currency without obtaining the necessary approvals.

This payment was entirely different to all the IPL franchisees paid to buy players at auctions, and has never been disclosed publicly.

Under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), no resident Indian may offer financial guarantees in foreign currency without the approval of RBI.

This means that the BCCI has said that the finance authorities that ever charges it is done in advance of South African entities are not be considered to be the loss of foreign exchange.

Stuart Broad, who was part of the England team that beat Pakistan by five wickets in the first Twenty20 international match on Sunday, said he received his early education to prevent corruption, at the age of 19.

Sri Lanka World Cup winning coach Dav Whatmore on Monday said, fixing is a threat to curb, through proper education for youngsters.

Former England captain, Geoffrey Boycott says the recent spot fixing scandal involving the Pakistan players did not come as a surprise to him, because the failure of authorities to take tough measures to deal with similar cases in the past.

IPL 4: 74 Matches Scheduled in IPL Season 4

The IPL Governing Council met Sunday and decided to bring a change of format for a total of 74 matches during the expanded fourth edition of the Twenty20 extravaganza.

IPL Chairman, Chirayu Amin said that it would be total 74 matches in IPL Season 4.

Each franchise will play a minimum of seven matches in the IPL Season 1. It seems that teams would be divided into two groups at the early stage.

In the last season, there were eight franchises, who played home and away from the baseline lead to 56 matches in the league phase, followed by two semi-finals, a 3-4 match (only played in IPL3 season) and a grand final - it make total of 60 matches.

In IPL Season 4, two new franchise teams were added. Sahara Warriors of Pune and as yet unnamed Kochi franchise, a continuation of the home and away format would involve a total of 94 matches, which are council members did not find feasible.

Harbhajan Serious Comments about Match-Fixing

Indian Spinner, Harbhajan Singh has made some serious comments about match-fixing: I am going to blow a bookmaker who is close beside me.

Sri Lanka Captain under ICC Investigation

The International Cricket Council’s anti-corruption unit followed an unusual activities leads Sri Lankan player after team members alerted their skipper to Kumar Sangakkara for his late-night activities with a man considered an illegal bookmaker.

Sri Lanka captain has followed the protocol by contacting the ICC anti-corruption unit. The player has been investigated by the Sri Lankan police.

ICC Seeks Independent Commissioner for Pakistan Spot-fixing Scandal

Three Pakistani cricketers weren’t punished in the spot- fixing scam, the ICC said that an independent commissioner appointed to go to everything and the players can make their views known before him.

The players - Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir - have the right to prohibit the temporary suspension and a further opportunity to defend the charges at a full hearing before an independent Anti-Corruption Tribunal.

Pawar said that they did not punish anybody yet. He noticed that under the ICC anti-corruption rules, the suspected players needed to have been notified and an investigation conducted.

Earlier, Pakistan High Commissioner, tried to inform that Pawar may have at hand in getting Butt, Amir and Asif were suspended and claiming that the ICC will try to make Pakistan a scapegoat of its inefficiency.

The ICC has confirmed that cash for no ball accused have been officially notified of the crimes they have committed and have been provisionally suspended pending a decision on those charges.

Fourth Member of Pakistan Team under ICC Investigation

The fourth member of the Pakistan team is being investigated by the ICC over match-fixing allegations, but declined to name him.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Pakistan coach refused to comment and officials stressed Sunday Twenty20 match between England and Pakistan at Cardiff will still go ahead.

Suspended trio threatened 23 charges between them - and revealed that the ICC is now probing the fourth player.
